ABOUT US

Stara Polska ‘Old Poland’ evokes the atmosphere and spirit of the traditional Polish restaurants and bars in the towns in and around the Tatra Mountains in Southern Poland. It is an area steeped in tradition and customs that have been followed for centuries.  The harsh winters followed by long hot summers create exceptional conditions for growing the finest fruit and vegetables anywhere.  Step into Stara Polska and feel as if you are in Poland. Traditional hand-made furniture and all furnishings have been specially imported from Poland to create an authentic atmosphere.  But this is just the start. From the moment you try one of the many different varieties of Polish vodka and listen to the mountain music playing in the background you will already begin to appreciate the traditional qualities of the Polish lifestyle.  Polish people take food very seriously indeed, and had it not become a 90’s buzzword ‘organic’ would probably be derived from the Polish language.  Most of our food is imported directly from Poland, as it is only by using Polish ingredients that the correct taste and texture of the food can be authentically reproduced.

For drinks, we offer the full range of popular Polish beers, such as Zwyviec, Okocim, Lech and Tyskie, many different kinds of Vodka including the popular Zubrowka with Bison Grass, the honey flavoured Krupnik and the mysteriously Black Debowa. There is also an international wine list.

Traditional Polish dishes abound in the menu, such as Bigos, Potato pancakes, Pierogi and of course, Kielbasa smoked sausage as well as dishes such as Beef Stroganoff and Salmon a la Polonaise.

For desserts, there is poppy seed cake, together with a range of various cheesecakes and fruit cakes as well as crepes, served with fruit, cream and chocolate. All freshly made and baked in our kitchen.
